Photographing fall colors Part 4
Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 12:40PM
Use reflections to create better fall color photographsBy nature, we look to the trees themselves when we want to photograph fall color. But there is another way to approach things when we are trying to decide how to shoot the best fall color photography.
Rather than looking at the trees themselves, look for a situation where the color of the foliage is reflected into water. The scene comes alive because the water will take on a variety of hues, and you have the added interest of movement if you use a slow shutter speed.
This is also a great solution when the color is past peak, because you focus on abstracted color rather than the details of the spotted leaves that may not be so pretty anymore.
